Ten Years of Faithfulness
Children, caregivers, volunteers and friends gathered in Jos to celebrate a decade of JOFIN, and the years of care that made it possible.
Children in bright JOFIN T-shirts, caregivers, volunteers and long-time friends of the home filled the hall, while on a table at the front stood the cakes, one bearing four words: 10 Years of Faithfulness.
JOFIN began caring for orphaned and vulnerable children in Jos in 2012. In August 2023, the JOFIN family came together to give thanks for everything that had happened since, and to celebrate the children at the centre of it all.
A day led by children
The celebration belonged to the children. They took the stage in groups, singing and speaking into the microphone in front of the people who have cared for them, while musicians played guitar, keyboard and drums.

Staff, guests and elders spoke about the journey so far. There were moments of prayer, with caregivers kneeling alongside the children, and there was food to share, with children opening meal packs together.
We are set up to give succor to orphans and vulnerable children by assisting them and insisting that they should obtain all their rights as advantage UN convention on the Right of Child (C R C) to believe in themselves that they can be singled out from the crowd

What ten years have made possible
Behind the celebration are years of daily, often unseen work: a safe home, meals on the table, school fees paid and children encouraged to believe in themselves. Today, JOFIN supports more than 350 children in their education each year.
The work also reaches beyond our own home. Through outreach such as Project Foot a Child, which gave new shoes to children in the community in 2020, JOFIN has now reached more than 20 communities around Jos.
Looking ahead
A decade is worth celebrating, but the needs remain. Every year brings new school fees, food costs and the everyday work of running a home. The next ten years will depend, as the first ten did, on people who choose to stand with these children.
